What?s the most kick ass technology you?ve always wished for at music festivals? What would you create if the sky was your limit? Here?s your chance! Use AWS technology to create an experience that is desperately needed or would greatly enhance the fan experience at an EDC festival. It can be anything from getting more information on the events and activities at the festival to using a virtual assistant to direct you to the nearest bathroom with the shortest line. Anything you can dream of for a festival, make it.

Judging Criteria

Each submission will be scored in each round based on the following criteria with a minimum score of 0 and a maximum score of 30 points, with the final score being the average of the judges? scores:

Simplicity (5 points):

Is the application simple to use and can the team explain it clearly in three sentences or less?

Creativity (5 points):

How creative was the team in developing an innovative solution for the challenge?

Impact (5 points):

Did the team create an application that can have a real and valuable impact?

Design (5 points):

Was the UX/UI intuitive and appealing?

Usage of Featured and Surprise Technology (5 points):

Was the featured technology used, and how well were the surprise APIs utilized?

Presentation (5 points):

Was the demo well organized, coherent, and did it communicate how the idea meets the other criteria?

Fan Voting

Leading up to, and during EDC Las Vegas, fans will have the opportunity to vote on their favorite idea. AWS and EDC will promote the submissions, encouraging fans to check out the pitch videos and cast their vote for the idea they?d like to see brought to life at EDC Orlando.

Rules

  • Teams of up to 5 participants are allowed. All team members must have completed the participation agreement to compete.
  • Participants must be 21 years of age and citizens of the continental United States upon registration.
  • You may not begin your project until the competition officially begins. Please don’t come in and build on top of previous projects if you want to win.
  • Winning teams will be subject to a code-review at some point following the event or immediately before winning.

Faq

Who Can Attend?

All developers, designers and entrepreneurs who are 21 and over.

How are Teams Formed?

Teams can be created in advance using the Hack Till Dawn Slack channel and/ or onsite and will be comprised of one to five individuals.

How is Hack Till Dawn Judged?

Winners of the Hack Till Dawn hackathon will be selected by a panel of judges who will use the judging requirements provided above. Out of the three finalists, the grand prize winner will be chosen by fan vote.

What is the Fresh Code Rule?

All code developed as part of Hack Till Dawn must be fresh. Before the start of Hack Till Dawn, developers can create wireframes, designs and user flows. They can also come with hardware. But to keep things fair, all code must be written onsite at Hack Till Dawn. Other than that, almost anything goes and you can use any coding languages or open-source libraries.
